Powder Metallurgy Process : 

The powder metallurgy process existed for more than 100 years, it is one of the general metal-forming processes performed by filling the mixed metal powder into the mold for forming the near-net-shaped products. Over the other metal forming technology, such as metal casting or forging, this process is in the advantages of material utilization, shape complexity, controlled porosity, etc. Nowadays, powder metallurgy is a mature metal process and applied for numerous industries, you can find powdered metal products around your life such as automotive/motor components and household appliances. It also will become an important process for manufacturing lightweight parts in the future trend.



Powder metallurgy, as known as the powdered metal process, processes filling metal powder (iron powder, stainless steel powder, bronze powder, brass powder, etc.) into a forming mold, and the powder is pressed into green parts under a set pressure. And then, the green parts are put into the sintering furnace for sintering, so that the metal particles are combined to achieve a certain mechanical strength. After sintering, vibration de-burring, calibration, turning, other secondary processing, electroplating, and heat treatment can be carried out according to the requirements of the drawings.

In the sintering process, the workpieces will be made by heating under the melting point to achieve their structural strength. The products processed by sintering are generally called sintered bodies.

We can provide repressing, sizing, and coining according to the requirement of surface polishing, precision, density, and toughness, the fineness reaches up to 0.01mm.

Tumbling (Video)

With high-frequency vibration, the workpieces are mixed with grinding stones, steel balls, abrasives, etc., and rolled in rotating to achieve their surface trimming and polishing.

We can offer secondary machining for the products to perform the horizontal holes, threads, Fine grooves, and other shapes that cannot be formed by powder metallurgy.

Heat Treatment 

Heat treatment is the process of quenching, tempering, carburizing, nitriding, etc., the workpieces so that  the desired qualities and the physical strength can be enhanced.

Sand Blasting

Sandblasting is to spray steel grit or glass grit with a high-pressure air to the workpiece to remove burrs or foreign material and therefore smoothen the workpiece surface.

Steam Oxide Treatment

Workpieces are placed in a high-temperature environment to react with water vapor to form blue-black iron oxide on the surface for rust resistance and harden the sintered body.

Electroplating is the process of laying a layer of metal on a conductor using the principle of electrolysis, the most common method of electroplating used for the powdered metal parts are zinc, chemical, and nickel plating to increase oxidation resistance and durability.

Oil impregnation

In oil impregnation, the workpieces will be placed in a vacuum environment under the atmosphere of -72mmHG to evacuate the air in the pores, and oil can be injected into the workpieces according to customer requirements (the viscosity range of 30-80).
